We are proud to offer dental sealants for this reason.

Dental sealants are a protective coating applied on the chewing surfaces of a patient’s molar and / or premolar teeth. Even if your child brushes and flosses properly, he or she may miss some areas, leaving those teeth more susceptible to acid demineralization and potential cavitation. A sealant is designed to fill in these areas by smoothing the rough edges, depressions, and grooves, providing a much more easily cleansable and hygienic surface. By doing this, we can make an effort to aid in the prevention of tooth decay.

Sealants are typically indicated in children with a moderate to high risk for cavities as well as for patients that have very deep anatomical features on their posterior (back) teeth. Sealants can be placed in a fairly short appointment at our office once your child has been examined to determine if they are an acceptable candidate for this preventive service. If you have any questions about dental sealants at our office, feel free to contact us today at (615) 614-2424.

*** Primary (baby) molar sealants and permanent premolar sealants are typically not a covered service through most insurance providers. However, permanent molar sealants are usually covered through the patient’s preventive benefits. Due to this, primary molar and permanent premolar sealants are not routinely placed at our office unless there is an absolute indication for them. If sealants are indicated, we will inform the patient of their financial responsibility prior to this service being performed. ***
